Ever been to counseling and want to own a gun? Act now to protect your rights!

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Please take a minute of your time to voice your opposition to new anti gun legislation. In a nutshell they are trying to insert a psychiatric gun ban which vastly broadens the definition of mentally defective. This would include persons who went to counseling for a variety of non gun related issues. This vote will happen soon so waste no time.

There are already procedures in place for background checks prior to a gun purchase, the only thing our government should concentrate on is prosecuting:

  • Gun dealers that fail to follow background check protocall.
  • State and federal employees that are responsible for making sure records are up to date.

Enforcement is the key, all the other parts of the process to make gun sales safe are already in place. This new legislation would make it very easy for someone to be denied their right to own a gun based on elements totally unrelated to that persons. This also extends power to educational institutions to prompt investigation of students who’s behavior seems to stray slightly from their definition of regular. This will only open doors for infringement on countless freedoms.

Stop the Fernwood movement before it starts.

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Please take a minute and contact state Rep. Rosemary Brown and request that she withdraw her support for HB1716.  HB1716 is a effort to get Fernwood back in the running for a casino license by removing the 30 mile buffer restriction.

The people of the eastern Poconos need jobs that pay a living wage not more hospitality jobs. I know this is a long time away but if we start acting now we might be able to make a difference sooner. Tell her to introduce a bill to lower the cost of gas or the cost of groceries at price gouging stores like Mignosi’s Foodtown that preys on locals all week while they wait for the weekenders that the food is priced for!
